The early results from the mid-major conference tournaments have been fairly stable, with higher seeds consistently advancing over lower-seeds. That almost changed today, as the Missouri Valley Conference’s top-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers barely survived a quarterfinal matchup with 9th-seeded Indiana State. But trailing with under five minutes to go, UNI's defense clamped down and they rode a combined 10 points from their college basketball all-name team nominees, Ali Farokhmanesh and Kwadzo Ahelegbe, to keep their Tourney hopes alive. They also got four points in the last two minutes from the more blandly-named Adam Koch.
I'm sorry, did I mention that “Koch” is pronounced “Cook”? (More substantive info on the Panthers at that link.)
