After a controversial buzzer-beater by all-name team nominee Booker Woodfox got Creighton past the quarterfinal round, the Bluejays got absolutely pounded in the Valley semis by Illinois State. This not only stripped them of a chance at an auto bid, but also may have knocked them off the at-large bubble (they were the only Valley team with a real shot at an at-large bid). But the way their fellow bubble teams are playing, they might still have a shot.
In any event, the result is a matchup between top-seeded Northern Iowa and third-seeded Illinois State. If it's anything like the last time these two teams met up, you won't want to miss it. Two weeks ago, the Panthers spoiled Illinois State's Senior Night by edging the Redbirds in double overtime.
The game will get premier television treatment, airing at 2 pm on CBS.
