I just want to say that the torture of listening to Dick Vitale calling a Duke game is exponentially multiplied when he is paired with Mike Patrick. Shulman tolerates Vitale without validating much that he says, and he even argues with Vitale at times. He displays a sort of bemused exasperation with his pairing with that buffoon. You could really tell the difference when Shulman was calling games in the Garden with the generally reasonable Jay Bilas. He was engaged, talkative, and seemed to relish actually discussing the games and teams that were in front of him. Patrick, on the other hand, perpetually sounds as if he's out of breath, and says every sentence as if he's flabbergasted at the very existence of the things of which he speaks. With Vitale, Patrick just goes along and lets Vitale talk about whatever, and just agrees with whatever Vitale says, with the consequence that Vitale talks even more about irrelevant things. It's a horror show. HEY DID YOU KNOW GREG PAULUS COULD HAVE BEEN A QUARTERBACK AT NOTRE DAME OH MY GOD HE'S THE GREATEST HUMAN EVER HE DIDN'T COMPLAIN WHEN HIS MINUTES WENT DOWN OH MY GOD.
